Geret N. Giles, Ph.D. (Practice Owner)
Dr. Geret N. Giles is a licensed psychologist who has been in private practice since 1995. From 1995 to 2008, Dr. Giles was in private practice at Child & Family Psychology in Orem, Utah, with Drs. A. Lynn Scoresby, Robert F. Williams, and Scott W. Seaman.
In 2008, he founded Giles & Associates Family Psychology in Pleasant Grove, Utah. In 2009, he was joined by Christopher E. Peck, Ph.D. In 2011, the practice expanded again to include Michael M. Haderlie, Ph.D.
Dr. Giles sees clients with various issues including depression, anxiety, marriage conflict, and parenting difficulties. Dr. Giles performs forensic evaluations for Utah’s Fourth District Court when questions arise regarding the mental competency of defendants. He also performs civil commitment evaluations for the Utah State Hospital.
Dr. Giles received his Masters Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Brigham Young University and his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the Pennsylvania State University.
He and his wife, the former Kelley Clements of Pleasant Grove, are the parents of four children. Dr. Giles enjoys attending his children’s events and performances, coaching youth teams, traveling, and grilling on his backyard barbeque.
In January of 2007, Dr. Giles lost his best friend to cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer). He answers psychological questions regarding coping with cancer in a feature called, “Ask Dr. Giles” for cholangiocarcinoma.com
Christopher Peck Ph.D.
Dr. Christopher E. Peck is a licensed psychologist with over 19 years experience in helping individuals and organizations grow and develop. Dr. Peck received his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Brigham Young University and he also holds degrees in finance and marketing.
In his clinical practice, Dr. Peck works as a generalist treating a broad range of mental health issues including: anxiety disorders/OCD/PTSD, depression, sexual compulsions/addiction, couples/family issues, spirituality/religious concerns, and performance psychology.
Dr. Peck utilizes a scientifically based approach to therapy that draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, REBT, CBT, and existential thought.
Dr. Peck also conducts psychological and ADHD evaluations. Professionally, Dr. Peck was a junior executive with KeyStone Learning systems and co-founder of Blast Through Learning, both global educational companies. He joined Giles and Associates in 2009 after working at various agencies including BYU-Provo and BYU-Hawaii counseling centers.
Dr. Peck is married and the father of four children. He enjoys sports (more watching now-a-days), reading, movies, spending time with his family, and teaching.
Mindy Pearson, Ph.D., Resident Psychologist PLEASANT GROVE & SPRINGVILLE OFFICES
Mindy Pearson recently completed her graduate degree in Counseling Psychology at Brigham Young University and has been practicing since 2010. She joined Giles and Associates in 2015 after working at a variety of sites, including college counseling centers and community mental health clinics.
Mindy sees clients with various presenting concerns including depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety/OCD/panic disorders, posttraumatic stress and trauma, marital/relationship conflict, and sexual compulsions/addictions. She also conducts psychological and ADHD evaluations and is currently working toward competency in conducting psychosexual evaluations as well.
Mindy’s approach to therapy is humanistic and draws from Emotion Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, mindful self-compassion approaches, and existential thought to guide her practice. She has completed basic training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) and also has experience practicing from an Internal Family Systems Model with clients who have undergone severe trauma in their past. She enjoys helping clients increase their self-awareness, clarify their values, relate more authentically to self and others, embrace and celebrate their personal strengths, and identify ways to live more meaningfully.
She and her husband have three children. In her spare time, Mindy enjoys reading, taking walks or hiking in nature, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.
Jessica Kirchhoefer has been seeing clients for several years in multiple settings including community mental health, college counseling, and private practice as part of her PhD program. She joined Giles and Associates as an intern in 2018.
Jessica sees clients with various presenting concerns including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, posttraumatic stress and trauma, relational/sexual concerns, impulse disorders, and LGBT concerns. Her therapeutic approach incorporates ACT, CBT, and multicultural therapies.
Jessica’s research within the field includes areas of multicultural considerations in therapy, outcome measures, group therapy, and meteorological influences on mental health. Her work has been presented internationally, been published in multiple journals, and received expansive media attention from TIME magazine to The Huffington Post.
Jessica and her spouse have one child. She enjoys going on walks, cooking, eating good food, and reading.
Jason Lefrandt – PLEASANT GROVE
Jason Lefrandt is currently a doctoral candidate in counseling psychology at Brigham Young University. He finished his masters in marriage and family therapy at BYU. Jason has conducted multicultural research in American Samoa and New Zealand. He joined Giles and Associates as an intern in 2019.
Since 2014, Jason has been seeing clients with a variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, trauma, spiritual concerns, sexual compulsions, LGBTQ concerns, marital conflict, and family issues. He has completed an internship with Solace Emotional Health, primarily treating sexual compulsions and marital conflict. Jason draws from empirically-based treatments, such as interpersonal, humanistic, and cognitive behavioral therapies.
Jason and his spouse have one child. They enjoy critiquing restaurants and films (not professionally), going on hikes, playing sports, and traveling.
